Deveny’s television work includes Network Seven’s Tonight Live with Steve Vizard, Full Frontal, ABC TV’s Good News Week, BackBerner and Q and A, Network 10’s Rove Live, The Wedge and skitHOUSE and 7pm Project and Channel 31. She performs regularly on radio and television and was a popular fill in broadcaster on 774 ABC Melbourne.

Deveny has written for the Logie Awards, the Aria Music Awards and co-wrote the 2005 AFI Awards with Russell Crow. She famously took on Roman Catholic Cardinal George Pell at the Sydney Opera House in the Festival of Dangerous Ideas. Deveny is widely considered one of the most gifted, versatile and prolific writers in Australia. Her voice ranges from polemic to compassionate, stand up to sermon, joke writer to speech writer and from cultural terrorist to cultural therapist.

She is in constant demand as corporate speaker, after dinner entertainment, panel member, guest lecturer and to deliver key note addresses link to more. She is also a highly regarded consultant in social networking, online marketing and cultural trending working for organizations such as Law Institute of Victoria, Attorney General's Department, Australian Law Reform Commision and The Shannon Company.

Catherine Deveny has been named in the Top 100 Most Influential Melbournians. She is an atheist and (along with two of her sons) dyslexic. She is a member of the Federal Government's working part on Dyslexia. Her extensive charity and community work includes , Asylum Seeker's Resource Centre, homeless women and Broken Rites. She is a proud ambassador for Dying With Dignity Victoria, 2010 International Day of People with Disability, a No To Homophobia Community Champion and the Patron (along side Father Bob) of Griefline and was one of the founding members of Friends of Public Housing.

Deveny, along with Jane Caro and Leslie Cannold, is one of the co-founders of No Chicks No Excuses, a website dedicated to redress the lack of female voices in public life by providing a data base of women availible to speak, write, advise or consult on any subject.

Catherine's much anticipated novel The Happiness Show was released November 2012 and she is currently writing her memoir/manifesto Tantrum With Reality both published by Black Inc Books. Catherine is flat out with speaking, lecturing and consulting gigs and is a regular columnist with ABC’s The Drum.

Deveny opened the The 2010 Global Atheist Convention Melbourne, Australia 12-14 March with Richard Dawkins, Peter Singer, Philip Adams, Dan Barker and PZ Myers. Her  Melbourne Comedy Festival her one woman show God Is Bullshit; That’s The Good News sold out in 2010 and 2011. She returnes as a headline performer for the 2012 Global Atheist Convention Gala Dinner. 

In August 2012 she will appear in Go Back To Where You Came From on SBS television with Angry Anderson and Peter Reith.

Her highly acclaimed 2013 Melbourne Comedy Festival how Curvy Crumpet is the first in a series of ten one woman shows over the next ten years.

Raised in Reservoir and currently living in The People’s Republic Of Moreland she is the mother to three little boys aged 10, 11 and 15. She lives in an atheist kibbutz with her partner, gay husband, various housemates and sons. Living in an all male household makes her want a tee-shirt that says “Where Have You Looked?”
